Happy Minden Day!
On the 1st of August 1759, British and Hanoverian Forces defeated the French Army at the Battle of Minden in one of the greatest victories of the Seven Year’s War.
One of our antecedent regiments, The British 51st Regiment of Foot which later became The Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, played a key role in the battle.
We celebrate the importance of our history, and we recognise how our Riflemen today have the same dedication to duty and courage in the heat of battle that their forebears did in Minden. Swift and Bold!
