HADDON-CAVE AFGHANISTAN INDEPENDENT INQUIRY
Please find attached a letter further to an announcement to the House of Commons on 15 Dec 2022.
The Defence Secretary commissioned the Rt Hon Lord Justice Haddon-Cave is to chair an independent statutory inquiry to investigate and report on unlawful activity by British Forces during the Afghanistan campaign.
News of this inquiry is likely to hit the media outlets fairly shortly with likely significant public interest, this will undoubtedly cause substantial concern from the veteran community. As such, CGS and Secretary of State for Defence have directed that the attached letter be sent to all Regular personnel and veterans of this campaign, to inform them of the proceedings, encouraging them to come forward with any evidence and ensuring then that the MOD will support them.
If you would like to discuss anything with Regimental Headquarters please contact our Welfare Team at [email protected] , but please note that this is not a 24/7 hotline and that messages and calls will be answered as quickly, as they might reasonably be expected to, over the Christmas period.
Kindest regards,
