James “Kirbs” Kirby joined the Army in 1994. A top third recruit at the Winchester Depot, he had respect and admiration from his peer group. He joined A Company 2LI in Paderborn, Germany just as the battalion was preparing for training to go to Bosnia (Op GRAPPLE). In Bosnia and on his return, Kirbs proved himself to be a valuable member of his platoon. His skills in the field and on the ranges we
