Beaches to Baltic 2025

RHQ is looking at running a Battlefield Tour/Bike Ride next year to the key battles fought by our antecedent regiments as part of the North West Europe Campaign 1944-5. The plan is to have participation from both serving and former members of the Regiment and their friends and dependants.

The  two elements will be funded separately. Serving participation will be via the MoD Battlefield Tour programme which will entail the serving elements of the Regiment (The Battalions). Veterans, their dependants and friends, will join an organised Bike Ride which will operate in parallel.

This communication is aimed at the second of these two groups and seeks to gauge the level of interest in participating in the ride.

The Ride will run from Normandy, the beaches, to Lübeck/Neustadt on the Baltic Coast, a distance of 1,850 Kilometres.

The Ride is planned for 15 days, but will be split into 3 x 5 day blocks, so individuals can ride 5, 10 or 15 days.

The likely dates are from late May to mid June.

The Ride will be self-funding, there will be an entry fee (expected to be in the order of £500) and an individual collection target. They will be determined by the number of participants. The Charity will probably be Care for Casualties.

Replying does not constitute a commitment to ride, at this stage we are trying to get an estimate of numbers.

So if you are interested in participating in the ride, and why would you not be, can you please reply to me at

[email protected] saying how many days you would like to ride for.
