The Queen has become the first Patron of The Rifleman’s Association
Her Majesty The Queen, has become the first Patron to The Rifleman’s Association. This is an enormous honour and privilege for the regiment.
The Rifleman’s Association provides a forum where serving and veteran Riflemen of all ranks, and their families, can continue to be part of the regiment by staying connected with comrades and their close family members; offering friendship, support and help where appropriate. The Rifleman’s Association also serves to support and promote the interests of The Rifles within its communities across the United Kingdom.
The Rifleman’s Association umbrella includes the Always a Rifleman Programme, a suicide prevention and mental wellness initiative, and Care for Casualties, which was specifically set up to support the families and individual Riflemen who were injured or killed because of the Iraq and Afghanistan campaigns.
Commenting on the announcement, Lieutenant General Tom Copinger-Symes CBE, Colonel Commandant The Rifles, said: “This is a huge privilege for the regiment and highlights Her Majesty’s care, commitment and understanding for the wellbeing of our soldiers and their families. We are honoured that she has chosen to offer her patronage to all our Riflemen and their families.”
