
5 RIFLES Homecoming Parade And Junior Non-Commissioned Officers Pass Off Parade


Earlier today at Picton Barracks The Royal Colonel, 5th Battalion, The Rifles (5 RIFLES), Her Royal Highness (HRH) The Duchess of Edinburgh attended a homecoming parade from #OpCABRIT14, the Battalion’s 6-month operational deployment to Estonia where it deployed to the Baltic State in support of NATO’s Enhanced Forward Presence (eFP) as the lead Battlegroup working alongside Estonian, French, Latvian, Canadian, Lithuanian, Spanish and Finnish Forces.
In addition to the homecoming event, the Junior Non-Commissioned Officers Pass off parade also took place where The Duchess of Edinburgh presented the Best Student award to Rfn Flack, B Coy, 5 Pl, and the Chosen Man to Rfn Ward, Anti Tanks Pl for their outstanding efforts, that saw 32 Riflemen completing an arduous 8-week course, and which now sees them promoted to Lance Corporal.
The Duchess also presented children of serving personnel with mini medals for the courage they displayed whilst their parents were deployed in Estonia.
