Veteran Ian Hughes to summit Mount Everest on 20 May to raise money for the RIFLES Benevolent Trust
Published on April 17, 2025

Our veterans never cease to amaze us.
Ian Hughes joined the Royal Green Jackets in 1985 and after four years’ service left to become a professional diver before setting up his own business. Like many of our forming and antecedent veterans he has stayed connected to the regiment and is a mentor on the Always A Rifleman Programme; he has also been involved in charitable projects including with the Army Benevolent Fund.
On the 20th of May Ian hopes to summit Mount Everest to raise money for the RIFLES Benevolent Trust, you can follow his progress by clicking on https://share.garmin.com/ENN7T. If you would like to find out more about his exploits and why he is doing this, please visit https://gofund.me/d74f06b5.
Swift and Bold!
