We appreciate our history and our forebearers and today we remember that on the 1st of August 1759, British and Hanoverian Forces defeated the French Army at the Battle of Minden in one of the greatest victories of the Seven Year’s War. One of our antecedent regiments, The British 51st Regiment of Foot which later became The Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, played a key role in the battle.
