AARP Mentors Weekend

The Always A Rifleman (AARP) Mentor's Course empowers volunteers to deal with the most challenging aspects of what a veteran might confront when in crisis. It offers a Level 3 University-approved qualification and all the tools required to support friends and peers should the need arise.   
 
Over 70 volunteers have successfully completed the training, with at least three putting their new skills to good use outside of the military environment. One volunteer talked a university student down from a high place during a crisis and a second prevented a lorry driver from making a regrettable decision during a busy rush-hour commute.
